Admissions

Thornton Primary School has an admissions policy which complies with the law. Please see below for the current policy in 2023-24, the policy for 2024-25 and the draft policy for 2025-26 which is currently in a period of consultation.

In Year Admissions

In year admissions are co-ordinated by the Local Authority and you can find more information here:

Reception admissions: New starters in September 2025

You need to apply to the local authority. If your child lives in the Bradford District, you should apply through the online admissions system between 18 November 2024 and 15 January 2025.

Please use the link below to access the online system. If you are applying late, you will need to apply on a late application form, as the online system closes on the relevant closing date.

Apply now for a place at school

We will be holding a drop-in session on the 12th of November 2024 at 3:30pm - 5pm for all new parents to attend to look round the setting and have any questions answered. Entry will be through the main entrance, where you will be greeted by our Reception staff.

Nursery Admissions

At Thornton Primary School, we maintain a waiting list for admission to our Nursery. We admit 60 children  into Nursery and children can start the term after their third birthday. We offer 15 hours per week and this can be taken in a very flexible way with different options outlined in our policy.  We can offer full time places - please see our policy.

We make a charge to cover lunchtimes as this exceeds the 15 hours which is free for all three and four year olds.

Children attending our nursery are prioritised for a place in reception class (please see our admissions policy below).

A separate application must be made to the Local Authority which is responsible for allocating places in our Reception classes.

Appeals

If you have applied to a Primary School following the correct procedure and you are not satisfied with the school you have been allocated, you should follow the guidance in the Appeals document below.
