Our Mission:

At Thornton Primary School, staff and children work together to create a happy school where:

Children BELIEVE in themselves and feel positive, taking pride in everything they do.

We all ACHIEVE our best and help each other in doing this.

We all SUCCEED and can show what we learn in our work and in our actions towards each other.

Our Values:

Teamwork - To promote good teamwork and develop relationships so that children are able to work collaboratively and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Respect - To enable children to develop a sense of identity, respect differences and celebrate diversity, so they know what is right from wrong and wrong.

Achievement -To enable children to know more, remember more, experience more and understand more so that children will achieve to the best of their ability regardless of starting points and achieve their full potential.

Initiative - Develop and strengthen children’s learning behaviour including resilience and independence so that children are motivated and confident learners taking responsibility for their own learning and making choices that support this.

Nurturing - Enable children to know how to stay safe and show care for themselves and the world around them so that they are emotionally and physically healthy and are able to make good choices and decisions.

Our Ethos:

The TRAIN values underpin all that we do at Thornton Primary School. We strive to be inclusive of all and conduct ourselves in line with the  protected characteristics showing our respect for everybody and everything. 

We believe that every child has unique talents which may take different forms, but are equally valued and encouraged. We ensure that all children are challenged to fulfil their potential. We aim to make children aware of their own strengths and help them to learn to value the strengths of others.
